Living on Vancouver Island
When I talk with anyone in Canada (and indeed, around the world), and mention that I live on Vancouver Island, the response is usually "Oh, you're so lucky!" And I agree. There are few places in the world that match Vancouver Island for beautiful scenery, mild climate and relaxed pace of life. Just today, for example, I went out for a walk in my neighbourhood wearing just a light sweater. The sun is shining, the temperature is 10 degrees C (that's about 50 degrees Farenheit) and spring bulbs are blooming. That may not sound like much until you realize that today is March 8 and much of the rest of Canada is suffering a huge snowstorm. As for the scenery, just about anywhere you go on Vancouver Island you are close to the ocean. And if you do venture inland, you are surrounded by forest and mountains. Because of its year-round mild climate, Vancouver Island is also a gardener's paradise. The photo here is of my garden in April (not this year). You can that the ornamental plum tree has finished flowering and has its reddish leaves. I've lived here all my life and I must say that I've never taken it for granted. Everyday I wake up and think "wow, it's so beautiful." I feel fortunate to have been born in such a wonderful part of the world. |

Absolutely! I lived there for many years and only left because duty called. I loved everything about the Island and visit there as often as possible. ;)
